The Ritz Group sails the Baltic Sea! 8-18 August 2002

Dave & Cyndy, Jack & Sue, Bill & Flo, and Dee
& Ginger went on the Gems of the Baltic Cruise from 8-18 August 2002. We arrived in Copenhagen,
Denmark from Boston on 6 August, boarded and sailed on the ms Noordam 8 August.
I have included some pictures and links to web sites of the various ports of
call.
It was a great trip with atypical clear weather for all days as being
partly cloudy and 75F-90F. The seas were calm everyday and we cruised
2,222 miles. This was a Baltic Sea Cruise made in heaven!

Here
we are in Copenhagen. The city is really alive and bustling.
They have a great pedestrian only shopping area that is great for "Nordic
blue eyed blond" people watching. |
The
mime was in the pedestrian way-so we stopped for a shot. She could
stand without moving for a very long time. |

Copenhagen-Nyhaven (7 August 02), the place to be for fun and good times

Getting ready to walk the walk! |

This is the canal in the Nyhaven area. We took a canal boat tour
from here. |

Here we sit watching the throng watch us.
Good beer!! |

Here is our home
for the next ten days. She is not a modern ship but she served us well.
We took a taxi from The Best Western City Hotel to the ship - Cyn, Dave, Dee & Ginger plus copious luggage. We arrived and processed on board at about
3:00pm.
Let the fun begin!! Somehow we managed to find the Crows
Nest Lounge where we became "the barflies" during our available moments.
We were well taken care of by Paul and his humble assistant Ron. More about that
later!!

The ship departed at 5:00pm on 8 August for the cruise. It returned to
Copenhagen at 7:00am on 18 August 2002. The following linked pages
will describe our ports of call at: (Tallin, Estonia and St. Petersburg, Russia),
(Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden), (Kalmar, Sweden; Warnemunde, Germany; and
Arhus, Denmark).
